Texas Sun 'Stream

The name of this beauty is inspired by its homeland, but also by that Khruangbin + Leon Bridges song we just can’t stop listening to: Texas Sun. “You say you like the wind blowing through your hair / Well, come on, roll with me 'til the sun goes down.” Oh yeah.

This tumbleweed (a 1965 Airstream Overlander) blew all the way to us from the dry Texas plains, bones as strong and uncompromising as if she had been built yesterday. When we repurpose vintage Airstreams into useable art, sometimes it’s not about having an end-goal in mind. Sometimes, it’s about seeing the beauty that’s there, polishing it to perfection, and setting it loose in the world for someone else to enjoy.

We drew inspiration from the palette and textures of this trailer’s longtime Texas home and combined them with charming splashes of late 60’s retro mauve as a nod to the past and a wink toward the future. Step inside the original, mirror-finished exterior to discover a fully furnished atmosphere complete with custom, handcrafted finishing touches — flecked ash felted wool gauchos (yep, those fold into full size beds), redwood cabinet trim, hand sewn watercolor curtains.

This abode was built with love and designed to be loved in return. Or maybe it was built and designed to match Leon’s outfit.
